Last Updated on October 10, 2026. The Jizerské hory are among the best available Czech cross-country areas by public transport. From the big cities, the bus or regional train is usually taken to Liberec or Tanvald. Below you can find a list of specific transport corridors, transfer points, last section to the mountains and timetables of carriers.
Watch out for validity: the date of update has not yet been published complete winter timetables for season 2026 / 2027. Links to regional connections below lead to timetables valid until 12 December 2026; seasonal skibus is documented for last winter and is marked as archival.
The simplest principle: first Liberec, then the local line
For Bedřichov, Count of Count and most of the central part of Jizerské hory it is most practical to come to LiberecFrom the bus station or railway station continue the local connection to Bedřichov; from there the adjusted magistrates routes start. For Josef's Mine, Tanvald, Kořenov and Jizerka it is preferable to switch to the train via Jablonec nad Nisou and Tanvald, or to continue by regional bus.
For a journey without a car, check three things before buying a ticket: whether the connection arrives in the right part of Liberec, whether the connecting bus goes to the desired boarding and whether the last connection does not leave before you plan to stop. In winter, some stops and connections can only be served on certain days.
From Prague: direct bus to Liberec, train with transfer

To Jizerek in three steps
Bus or train, a short transition, and then up to the Magistrate.
You want to go to Josephus' Mine?
Liberec → Jablonec nad Nisou → Smržovka → Josephus Mine, turtle station. In Smržovka, move to the local track. Get off at the station; walk on the route selected according to the destination circuit.
Kořenov and Jizerka
By train to Tanvald or Kořenov, then by regional or seasonal bus towards Jizerka. The stage at the finish line, for example, Jizerka, Morina. Check if the connection is on the day of the trip.
The easiest is the long-distance bus Praha- Liberec. FlixBus operates a connection from Prague to Liberec; the departure point may vary according to a specific connection, so check that you are boarding Florence, Montenegro or Roztylů when buying. The road takes about 1 to 1 hour according to the connection and operation. On arrival, the bus to Bedřichov or the tram or train to the destination area.
The train variant leads from Prague via Mladou Běslav and Turnov to Liberec, usually with a transfer. It is appropriate if you want to take the train all the way or continue by regional train further to Jablonec, Smržovka, Tanvald or Harrachov. Count on a longer journey and check the continuity in Turnov and Liberec.
Recommended route to Bedřichov: Prague → Liberec (long distance bus) → Liberec, Fügnerova or bus station → Bedřichov, stadium. To Josefov's Dola or Kořenova, consider the train route via Turnov / Jablonec and Tanvald.
From Brno, Ostravice and other Moravian cities
Brno
From Brno you can find direct bus connections to Liberec; the offer and frequency change by day. If the direct connection is not convenient, take the train via Prague or Pardubice and then to Liberec. On the way through Prague it may be convenient to combine the Brno-Prague train with the direct bus Praha- Liberec; keep enough reserve to switch between the main station and the bus terminal.
Ostravice, Olomouc and Zlín
From Ostravice and Olomouc it is most reliable to plan a journey along the main railway line to Prague, Pardubice or Hradec Králové and to continue to Liberec. From Hradec there is a train route through Jaroměřík and Turnov. In the long distance it is reasonable to buy tickets with a reserve between connections; when the last regional bus to the mountains is delayed, it is not necessary to wait. From Zlín there is a route via Otrokovice / Přerov and further along the main railway corridor.
I do not specify fixed departure times for the following long-distance combinations: they change according to day of the week, lockout and season. Search for a specific date with the carrier or in the official connection search.
From Hradec Kralove, Pardubice and Eastern Bohemia
Hradec Kralove has a direct railway route through Jaroměří, Old Pakou and Turnov to Liberec (line 030). From there you can continue by bus to Bedřichov or by train towards Jablonec and Tanvald. From Pardubice you usually go through Hradec Kralove or via Prague; choose a connection according to the connection to Liberec and the total waiting time.
The East Bohemia route is practical for a multiday stay: you will arrive in Liberec by train and transfer to local transport without the need to deal with parking. On the way to Jizerka or Josefa's Doll, check whether it is better to switch to Liberec, Jablonice, Smržovka, or Tanvald - it depends on the timetable.
From Liberec to the mountains: lines 18, 395 and regional connections
Bedřichov and Central Magistrate
From Liberec to Bedřichov bus lines are used, which ends at the stop Bedřichov, stadiumYou'll find a city line in the timetables. 18 from the terminal Fügnerova via Rudolfov and the Czech cottage and regional line 395 Liberec- Bedřichov- Jablonec nad NisouLine 395 is also useful when taking up from Jablonka; specific line management and operating days check by date.
The bus stop Bedřichov, the stadium is a good entrance to the main city hall. You can also reach Maliník via Bedřichov; check whether a particular bus stops directly at Maliník stop. In the season, the bus and the bus connections can be added.
Count, North and Josefův Důl
The regional bus from Liberec or Jablonka is continued in the area of Vábětice. Josefov's Dolu can be reached by train: from Liberec you can continue along the route via Jablonec nad Nisou and Sržovka, where the local line is connected to the station Josefov Důl. There are several entrances in the valley, such as Hell, ČD and Pod Dam; walking distance from the station can therefore vary according to the destination.
Tanvald, Kořenov and Jizerka
The train line from Liberec continues via Jablonec, Sržovka and Tanvald further to Kořenov and Harrachov. For Jizerka count the last section of the bus from Tanvald / Kořenov or seasonal connection; the railway station Kořenov does not lie directly at all entrances. Before the journey verify the transport of skis, the connection to the bus and the exit point - the name of the stops in the village differs from the name of the cross-country ski area.
Which public transport is appropriate for each area?
| Target area | Recommended main route | Last section |
|---|---|---|
| Bedřichov | To Liberec by bus or train | Bus 18 or 395 to the stop Bedřichov, stadium |
| Count / North | Liberec or Jablonec over Nisou | Regional bus towards Genov and Count |
| Josefův Důl | Train through Liberec- Jablonec- Sržovka | Track 034 ends in Josephus Dole; then on foot to the selected boarding |
| Souš / Mariánská hora | Liberec, Jablonec or Tanvald | Regional bus; check if it is going to the selected boarding |
| Smědava a Smrk | Liberec or Frýdlantsko | Regional bus, often seasonally limited; verify operating days |

| Oldřichov v Hájích | Train to Liberec / Frýdlant by connection | Regional train or bus to the village; the entrance of Na Pili is outside the main railway corridor |
This is an indicative planning overview, not the guarantee of operation of all connections. Seasonal lines, lockouts and stops change; always open the current connection for the selected day and check walking distance to the start of the route.

Practical tips before departure
- Enter a specific boarding stop. "Bedřichov" can mean stadium, Maliník or other part of the village.
- Check the daily connection mode. The marks of the working day, Saturday, Sunday and holiday can change the menu substantially; seasonal reinforcements can be added during the holidays.
- Save your spare for the transfer. The long-distance bus and the connecting local line need not be connected as one guaranteed connection.
- Check the equipment transport. The places for runners, strollers and luggage can be limited. Contact the carrier in advance for a larger group.
- Watch the lockouts. The railway line to Josefov's Mine and the main line Liberec-Tanvald have lockouts; the replacement bus does not always have to stop at all the original stations.
- Plan your way back in advance. In more remote steps, especially towards the Shift and Jizerk, the last connection can be much earlier than in Liberec.
- In winter, you can count on the weather. The snow-covered roads and delays can affect the continuity; follow the current carrier's information and select a route with a safe time reserve.
FAQ: Transportation to Jizerské hory
Can you drive from Prague to the Jizerské hory without any transfer?
Long-distance buses go to Liberec, but you will continue to the majority of the cross-country routes by local bus or train. Without the transfer to a specific entrance, the connection is usually not planned.
Where do I get off when I want to go to the Jizera Magistrate?
For the central part is the most common Bedřichov, stadium. For eastern routes consider Josef's Mine, Tanvald or Kořenov; the appropriate stop depends on the chosen circuit.
Does the ski bus ride in season 2026 / 2027?
The new timetable was not published on October 10, 2026. Last season the skibus was from December 29 to March 15 and it was worth CZK 20 per ride; this term and price are not a confirmation of this year's operation.
Is it better to come by train or bus?
The train is useful for continuing through Jablonec, Sržovka and Tanvald to Josefov's Dola, Kořenov and Harrachov. Decide according to the destination area and the real follow-up on the day of the trip.
The Jizerské hory have the advantage of combining long-distance bus, railway and local bus lines. When you choose the right starting point and check operating days, you can plan a cross-country trip without a car from the other end of the Republic.
